Historic Facility Restoration and Infrastructure Upgrade
This comprehensive project included replacing the granite paver floor system with a structural concrete slab to conceal updated mechanical, electrical, and plumbing services in the existing subgrade tunnels. The steel structure was repaired and reinforced, with lead-based coatings abated and modern finishes applied. All single-pane glazing units were replaced with tempered, laminated, double-pane insulated glazing. All new ground floor windows and doors with operable sashes were installed throughout. Restoration efforts extended to brick and stone masonry and ornate historical woodwork throughout the facility. A new entrance was designed and constructed between the two pavilions, thoughtfully matched to the building’s original late 19th and early 20th century architecture.
